§ 3.07. Clerk to the council.

The council shall appoint a clerk to the council for an indefinite term. He shall keep the journal of the council's proceedings and shall record all ordinances in a book kept for that purpose and shall record same in the clerk's office of the Circuit Court of the City of Hampton. He shall be the custodian of the corporate seal of the city and shall be the officer authorized to use and authenticate it. He shall receive such compensation as clerk to the council as may be determined by the council.
